GUIDED BY VOICINGS - Blogging is in Big Trouble RSS

big trouble is a band. big trouble is a place where dreams come true. we're not demanding. we're not "high maintenance." we're flexible, fun, and generally down for whatever. want to enjoy some instrumental music, including sly covers of death cab for cutie, the zombies, bjork, and angelo badalamenti, plus originals? we got you covered. need a band that can ably back any kind of artist, from singer/songwriter rob skoro to rapper p.o.s.? we got that, too. how about some original music with some original words from alexei casselle aka crescent moon of kill the vultures and roma di luna. damn, man, we've already recorded an EP like that, and it's on iTunes.

in short, we're coming to your town (if you live in minneapolis or saint paul), but we're not coming to tear it down. we'll just be over here, blowing your mind softly.

when not being in big trouble, the members of big trouble play with heiruspecs, joanna james, martin devaney, jessy greene, supreme privacy, and some other people. they've been joined onstage by robert skoro, bill caperton, annie from awesome snakes/soviettes, ben weaver, martin devaney, stook, joanna james, p.o.s. and i think that's about it. they also sometimes play basketball.

check out this great blog about all the fun you can have. post a comment, punch me in the face. it's all good. let's have fun.

We can’t wait to play Beatles tonight

the beatles are the best band in the world. here are the basslines that I’m most likely to fuck up at the big Beatles show tonight.

1 - Something - I think when George Harrison wrote songs Paul McCartney thought…hey I get to mess around on this one and just do whatever I want. What the hell is George going to say about it? 16 note fancy ass fills all over a quasi ass ballad? Done. I have practically given up on the version of the fill that happens in the solo, but I have a couple hours to change my mind.

2 - I’m On Sleeping - okay, bass chords? Cool. But how did he make them sound so clear and perfect on that weird fill. And who writes songs in Eb minor? I guess the same people who like baked beans to have no sweet taste to them and people who like their beer at warm temperatures.

3 - Carry That Weight - Playing Carry That Weight is very hard and it is a real page turner since they are quoting all these other songs. It’s going to be a real page turner.

4 - The End - oh my god, why are those hits so hard to play at the beginning. Are you guys human? I think the answer is no.

5 - She Came in Through the Bathroom Window - Paul…I’m going to get these. The second verse, it’s so great. And I’ve learned to never play the one on the first beat of a minor chord. Always the third. Are you proud of me?
